Anawilundawa is a man-made wetland built on the Western Migratory Bird Route. This is a bird sanctuary and birds live in beautiful surroundings. Apart from birds, mammals such as moose, rabbits, squirrels, wild cats, wild boars, fruit bats, reptiles, water monitors, lizards, geckos, turtles are also found in the place.
Yala National Park, Sri Lanka's most famous park, is located in the southern part of the country and spans two districts. Although leopards are still considered endangered, Yala National Park has the highest recorded number in the world. Leopards are more common in Sri Lanka than other species that share their habitat with dominant competitors such as lions or hyenas. This covers 126,786 hectares Including the Strict Natural Reserve (Block II). The most familiar is Block I (14,101 hectares) and this block was established in 1938. Yala is famous for its big herds and large number of Elephants, Leopards, Spotted Deer, Sambhur, Crocodiles, Mongoose, Wild Boar, Wild Buffalo, and many other animals. More than 130 bird species are recorded which includes the resident and winter visitors. There are 7 Bungalows inside the Park with few Camp Sites.
Bentota is a resort town on the south west coast of Sri Lanka. Its long benthic beach stretches north, merging with a sandbar known as Paradise Island that runs parallel to the benthic lagoon. There are six tourist hotels within a five-mile stretch of beach, each with all the amenities of a resort. Water sports are accessible from Beruwala resort. From here there are many interesting sightseeing trips including turtle hatchery, mask factory, whale watching, Galle Fort, mini zoo, garden briefing and boat trips on Bentota River.
